I'm curious.. which would you rather camp.. a state park, or something more remote?

I'm not a big fan of porting..(I like to shoot the rapids instead) but i like the fact that you cant get a cell signal, and are screwed if something goes wrong. I love camping in the BWCA.

As far away from people as I can get.(my opinion) Cell phones don't belong on a camping trip. If you need the security and/or instant gratification of a cell phone, you may as well camp in your back yard and not venture into the wilderness as our forefathers did.
Cell phones have "taught" people to rely and depend on others instead of themselves.

I completely agree with you, sir! Growing up, we never brought any electronics with us camping.(partly because it wasn't possible.) I don't believe that you should be watching movies and such while camping.. It runes the feeling you get of being in the outdoors, and may as well be in your backyard..

I like being as remote as possible when I camp. I like to camp 2-3 weeks at a time when I go and really value peace and quiet.

I was raised rustic. I don't like camp grounds that much.

I grew up camping in the middle of nowhere. Now I kinda like having toilets and possibly a shower available. Not that I like camping on top of my neighbors mind you.

I also don't sleep on the ground anymore. Sucks getting older.

I don't like the state parks around here. Most of them have the controlled campgrounds with curfews and limits on everything. I prefer to be as far from people as possible so I can enjoy the wilderness and hunt or fish or just be there.

Personally I like my "INJIN TV"!
If you don't like what's on you toss another stick in the pit & tell a differant STORY! LOL

*SIGH* I had to give away nearly ALL my camping things befor moving, FIRST to Calif then here to Foley two months later. I _HAD_ a nice 8' WEEKENDER Tipi that fit in the trunk, a commemorative CAST IRON SET (Louis & Clark SPECIAL EDITION), and many other "goodies"

At least I can still enjoy LIVING out in NATURE! ;}
(HAIR & AIR are fine to WEAR when you are WAY out THERE!
OK, NOT my best poem but... what the heck! Did YOU laugh? Or at least SMILE? BET ya DID KID! LOL

I ALSO had an IRISH LACE "TABLE" cloth, A champagne bucket, silver candel sticks and cloth napkins for ... SPECIAL "camping/Picknic" trips.

*SIGH* Oh, THOSE were the days. NOW, HOW can I get some more days (And nights) like that AGAIN befor I die? *NAUGHTY WINK & SMILE* LOL

State parks. I like Bee rock down in ky. Its pretty remote no running water or electric. You bath in the lake or on the. Side of the mt were fresh cold spring water comes over the rocks.
We sleep in a tent, with lanters its alot of fun...... Go fishing, swimming whatever you want to do.
No one bangin on your door, no telephone ringing, peace and quiet. Except for the radio I bring along lol

I prefer somewhere where there is no Metallica or Mariachi music blaring day and night.

I know hundreds of places in Colorado where there is no one around for many miles.

You are right Firedude, but in Florida the Game Commission is slowly stealing what the Federal Goverment gave to the "People" of Florida by calling it "Special" Wildlife Management Area and making Illegal rules and regulations on it to limit our usage of it. Hope someone will take them to Federal court on it before they get to far with it. It was already done with the High Water Mark and they lost so now they are taking the whole thing, lakes and all.

it's been quite a few years since I was canoe/camping in BWCA but loved it. Need to get back there before I get too old.

Federal parks are much more conducive to a good camping experience ... even the remote parks.
